Long time favorite firearms cleaner August 11, 2010 Daniel Wickham (Western NY-USA) What can be said about Hoppes #9. It's been used by gunowners for years and years. I grew up on the smell of this, and if I could get away with it, I'd use it as after shave too. Cleans bores, and parts as good as any out there, as far as powder, and it's residue. You might want another accessory type for copper residue. I've used it since a kid, and still go for it, as I suspect 99% of gunowners do, or at least have some or had some. Until something proves itself vastly superior, I'll be loyal to Hoppes #9
Clean, Efficient May 3, 2010 D. Sauer (St. Louis, USA) This is a great all purpose cleaner/coater. A little bit will go a LONG way, and there is plenty here! Worked great cleaning my Beretta 92-FS, even after several hundred rounds of build up (I know, I need to take better care, right).
highly recommended February 6, 2010 draco highly recommended for cleaning firearms. have used different solvents before but nothing still beat Hoppe's No.9!!!
Works well but you Pay for it! January 8, 2010 Mark Sutton (Chinatown, Honolulu, HI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Now, I used to be in the Army. We ONLY used Gov. Issue CLP and worked okay. This Stuff works way better in getting your Weapon clean as can be. Now, there is an alternate soloution that works as well but costs much much less...
Make your OWN Solvent like I do now. Equal Parts -you choose how much you want to make- Kerosene, Acetone, Mineral Spirits -or Turpentine- Dextron II Transmission Fluid -or similar- for lubrication. It's called "Ed's Red" and is all I use. Works just as well for a fraction of the Cost and I shoot a LOT of Corrosive Surplus Ammo. Look it up and save some Money. I like being DYI.
Nothing Better October 8, 2009 TJ SCHOENLEIN (BANGKOK, THAILAND) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I been using Hoppe's since the fifties and I owned many handguns and rifles/shotguns.
There are many cleaning products out there and I'm sure most are good cleaners.
Hoppe's has been cleaning the grim, carbon from these guns without failure for years.
Ya, I like the smell.. but I really like the great job this old cleaner does on my guns.
You can't go wrong with Hoppe's. buy it.
